About The Men’s Corner

At The Men’s Corner, we’re empowering men to find peace and achieve their dreams. By addressing needs often overlooked by our society, such as men’s mental health, career obstacles, and a lack of positive guidance, we can create a better future for everyone in our community.

Here’s why we do what we do.

Mission

Our mission is to provide help for men’s mental health and foundational guidance for self, career path, or through life situations. We strive to achieve this goal by empowering men to exceed their own expectations, and ultimately find foundational peace in their corner.

Questions

What’s in a Name?

Why The Men’s Corner?

Your corner is your space. Your little section of the world, away from the pressures and stress of society. At The Men’s Corner, we aim to give men a space of their own, where they can work out their own mental and emotional challenges, plan for the future, and safely dream.

In an ever-changing world that neglects men’s mental health, having your own corner can make all the difference.

Our History

The Men’s Corner started out as a group to help a father and son develop socially and emotionally. The idea of what a man is and should be in today’s society causes stress that can lead down a path of depression, social anxiety, and lack of self-motivation. As more men joined the group, the issue was more common than believed.

In order to help others and break the cycle of mental and emotional stagnation which can affect how individuals obtain their dreams, The Men’s Corner addresses these issues through mentorship, counseling services, monthly private group calls and podcasts, and informative and career trade workshops.

Why it Matters?

Why is a supportive group for young men so important for the community as a whole?

Because men’s mental health obstacles and issues impact us all. Did you know:

  • 13.84% of youth are coping with depression, up from 13.01% last year (an increase of 206,000 people).
  • 9.7% of youth (more than 2.3 million people) have severe depression. This number climbs to 12.4% in youth who identify as more than one race.
  • 60% of young people with depression are receiving no mental health treatment at all.
  • Only 27% of youth with depression report consistent care.
  • The number of young people whose private insurance does not cover mental health declined by 0.3% since last year, but 901,000 insured youth are still without adequate mental health coverage.
  • Substance use disorder in youth declined slightly, from 4.13% last year to 3.83%

Due to life circumstances, many young men in our community become incarcerated and end up repeating the cycle because once they leave the system, they do not have any guidance nor the help needed to get back into society.

Our organization helps to stop the cycle of incarceration and boost young men’s confidence in all situations, regardless of their background.
